Seattle Humane Society Community Involvement!!

Name of Organization or Cause *
Seattle Humane Society

Mikaela Bautista* - National American Miss Washington Princess.

Total Hours Served* - 8.5 hours

Mikaela Bautista loves puppies and she wish of having a pet puppy at home. She recently discovered of having a severe allergy with dogs, and there’s no way of having her wish come true. So she thought of doing something for them at least, and making blankets is a good idea in making them warm and cozy on this cold weather. She bought 12 yards of flannel and fleece fabrics from her own savings. With the help of her mom and big sister Marianne, she cut them into 32 squares. She cut fringes around them and tied them to make 16 blankets. She worked two hours before bedtime for four days and delivered the blankets personally to Miss Samantha Nadolny of the Humane Society in Bellevue, WA who happily gave her a tour to the facility and discussed other ideas how Mikaela could be of help to their organization.

Miss Ventura County Scholarship Community Involvement!!

Name of Organization or Cause *
Miss Ventura County Scholarship Organization

Kimberly Bebo* - National American Miss California Teen.

Total Hours Served* - 150 hours

As the Associate Director for the Miss Ventura County's Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization, I mentor young girls in my community and help them overcome their fear of public speaking. When I was Miss Ventura County's Outstanding Teen and went to the state competition, I also won Miss Congeniality for being so helpful! I help them realize their true potential and that they really can help their community in more ways than they possibly could imagine!

After just less than a year, Miss Ventura County's Outstanding Teen, Olivia Sichmeller, went from a shy, overly humble person who was afraid of the stage. To a confident, mature and wellspoken young lady! I feel that I had a lot to do with that though working with her day to day before and after she won her title. Girls are always coming to me for advice either about pageants or even personal things and that is what makes me a true mentor to these young girls! They know they can come to me for anything and that is a great assest to the community in my opinion.

Golf for Autism Community Involvement!!

Name of Organization or Cause *
Carson Kolzig Foundation

MaeloniOgle* - National American Miss Washington Teen

Total Hours Served* - 26 hours

I helped promote autism and raised money for families with autistic children. I was part of a Desert Bash golf tournament held by Olaf Kolzig who has an autistic child named Carson. I helped run games, set up for the fundraiser and did paper work.

The whole purpose for this was to raise money for families who have either one or multiple autistic children. I was blessed to talk to several families with autistic children and heard a lot of great stories. This was an amazing opportunity and I plan to do it again.

Me volunteering at the Carson Kolzig Foundation Olie and Stu Desert Bash Golf Tournament to help raise money for Autism.

Cupcakes for Cancer Community Involvement!!

Name of Organization or Cause *
Cupcakes for Cancer

Isabelle Chee* -  National American Miss California Pre-Teen.

Total Hours Served* - 15 hours

My community service project is "Cupcakes for Cancer". I baked cupcakes to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This organization raises awareness and researches to find a cure for breast cancer. The reason I chose to donate to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation is because my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago. Suddenly, my mom went from a full-time mom to a full-time cancer patient. My mother underwent two surgeries, 8 rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. It was devastating. I was only 5 years old and my brother was 9 years old. This is an organization that means a lot to me because I feel so lucky that my mom is a seven year breast cancer survivor. I made a total of 150 cupcakes and sold them for $1.00 a piece to school friends and neighbors. This project turned into a family event. My dad and brother happily offer to be my quality control specialists (cupcake tasters) and mom helped me with purchasing all the baking goods supplies. This was a great project because I love baking and I could make some fun memories with my family, as well as raise money for cause that meant a lot to me. After 15 hours of community service, I am proud to say I donated $150.00 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Down Syndrome Walk Community Involvement!!

Name of Organization or Cause *
Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana Buddy Walk

Gwennyth Simmerman* - National American Miss Indiana Princess.

Total Hours Served* - 4.5 hours

My family and I volunteered to help the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana with their Buddy Walk. It is a great organization that promotes acceptance of people with Down syndrome. Even though it was a chilly day, I really enjoyed preparing and serving the food to all the walkers.

It was a whole lot of fun and it made me feel good! I got to meet a lot of nice people and that was fun too! On that day, Mayor Tom Henry of Fort Wayne, Indiana declared the month of October to be Down Syndrome Awareness month. It was very inspiring and the greatest gift I learned on that day is that everyone should love you just the way you are! I can't wait to help again next year!
